DEAN OWENS & THE SINNERS
“Owens sings with a dark majesty that matches the gigantic emotional pull of his songs… dirt caked desert noir ****” – Mojo
Join Leith’s favourite son Dean Owens for the now traditional pre Christmas Soundhouse show at the Traverse. A night of unfestive songs and banter with Dean and his band of Sinners (and maybe a special guest or 2).
Let the award-winning Scottish troubadour transport you to a sepia stained downtown cantina with songs from his stunning back catalogue including his recent Sinner’s Shrine and El Tiradito albums (recorded with musicians from Calexico) – a unique blend of Scottish roots and Americana, with added desert noir.
The Sinners make a glorious, brass infused, driving sound with Craig Ross (electric guitar), Philip Cardwell (trumpet), Adam McMillan (bass), and Dean’s searingly soulful voice upfront. They conjure the magical panoramic sweep of the US desert states, infused with grit and dust from Scotland’s post industrial heartland. Songs of love and lust, sinners and saints, the displaced, the wanderers and the border ghosts.
Book early to avoid disappointment – this is always special, and always sells out.
