‘Among a body of work that has always been impressive for its breadth of vision and vivid imagination, with Sàl Iain Morrison has surpassed even his own high standards in a work of unparalleled potency’ – Folk Radio UK
Iain Morrison is an award winning musician and songwriter from the Isle of Lewis. He is acclaimed as one of Scotland’s most innovative composers and has succeeded in taking the musical tradition of his upbringing and crafting it into very much his own sound.
Iain is currently working on a new album for a Summer 2020 release. He will be performing songs from the new album and some old favourites at The Traverse with Joe Smillie (drums) and Pete Harvey (bass)
In 2018 Iain was commissioned by An Lanntair Arts Centre & 14-18 Now to compose a new suite of music to mark the Iolaire centenary. Sàl (Saltwater) was premiered in Stornoway for the Centenary and the album was released in November 2019. His 2015 album, Eas was chosen as Album of the Year on Radio Scotland’s Roddy Hart Show and nominated for Scottish Album of the Year 2016 at the SAY Awards.
